Divemaster
Go Pro with Maui Dreams Dive Co and Make the Ocean your Office!
The PADI Divemaster Course is the first step in using your diving abilities and your love of the underwater world to Go Pro.
This class consists of in-depth training in both academics and in-water work, but the advantages of this level of certification are well worth the effort. The time needed to achieve this certification varies. Due to the length of the program and upon availability of the student and instructors, it generally takes 3-6 weeks to complete.
Divemaster Prerequisites
In order to enroll in a DM Course, you must:
- Be a certified Rescue Diver
- Have 40 logged dives
- 18 years old
- Have good physical stamina
- Be professional and have the desire and maturity to take on the responsibility for others
Divemaster Course Layout
The Maui Dreams Divemaster Course is comprised of three parts:
- eLearning- This part of the program is done in your own time and should be completed prior to the start of the in-person course. This program covers everything from explaining the role and characteristics of a divemaster to dive theory and includes knowledge development and the divemaster exam. If you want to learn more about Dive Theory, consider taking the PADI Dive Theory online program; this is not a requirement but it is a helpful learning tool.
- Skills Development and Practical Applications- During these six days you will be learning the ins and outs of what it takes to be a PADI Divemaster; from developing your dive skills demonstrations to completing your divemaster-conducted program workshops. These sessions are pre-scheduled and will be completed with your Maui Dreams Pro Team Divemaster Mentor, who will help guide you through developing your professional abilities.
-
Practical Assessments - During the final part of your PADI Divemaster Course you will work with the Maui Dreams Pro Team as you learn to work with real-world students. This part of the program is on your own schedule and will teach you how to work as a divemaster in real diving situations so that you are ready to work in the industry after certification.
